Counselling

We all go through periods of stress, sadness, anxiety, and hardship, and it's perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed and unable to cope sometimes. However, there comes the point when tough times become too much to handle on our own; that's when it might be time to seek counselling.

How does it work?

Let go of your stress & worries.

Counselling is a type of therapy that involves talking openly about your problems. It can help you manage your emotions, deal with difficult situations, and make positive changes in your life. If you feel like you can't cope or don't know where to turn, let me help you find some light.

When to seek counselling

Certain signs indicate that you might benefit from counselling, whether you're using substances such as food, alcohol and drugs, snapping at people, struggling through a significant life event, or maybe you suffer from low self-esteem and want to learn to love yourself again.

It's not your fault

Many clients come to me with past traumas, from abuse, self-image distortion, unexplainable negative emotions or family issues; there is always a healthy way to get through things without blaming yourself. Therapy is totally non-judgmental and can help you let go of the past.

What Can I Expect?

Reaching out for help can be difficult, but it can also be one of the most rewarding things you ever do. Once we have a quick chat about your issues, we can create a plan of action to get you back in control. Remember, there's nothing to be ashamed of—it takes a lot of strength and courage to seek counselling.

Miss C.W

I saw Nicole whilst I have going through a hard time with my partner as I needed guidance, advice and just someone to talk too. Nicole gave me tools to help navigate that uncertain time which helped me take control of my life and relationship. I will forever be grateful, thank you.

Miss A.G

Nicole's help made a huge difference to my confidence and self-esteem. I was in the process of applying for a new job but felt I was held back by my mindset. Nicole's counselling and hypnotherapy were instrumental in helping me achieve my goals and establish an improvement sense of identity.

Miss S.J

“I’ve had a number of sessions with Nicole, and I’ve found them to be really helpful. At every session, Nicole makes sure you feel at ease and works with how you’re feeling on that particular day. Overall, there is always a calm and comforting atmosphere in which you can explore whatever issues or feelings you need to.

Miss L.L

I found Nicole to be really personable and easy to talk too. She really helped me sort out my issues by discussing my past, present and future. Its sometimes a feeling of being judged that stops us telling our whole truth but with Nicole I felt safe. I was quite shocked at how few sessions I needed in the end.

Ms J.T

During the time I spent with Nicole, she made me feel comfortable, supported, and heard. When I asked for changes or different approaches, Nicole was completely receptive and listened to what I needed, and tailored the sessions to my preference and helped me explore new avenues and approaches to healing and confidence.

Miss L.R

I went into hypnotherapy a little nervous, I’m so glad I did as this has helped me massively understanding my anxiety and overcome emetophobia after 30 years of suffering. This has given me confidence in myself and made me realise I am stronger than I believed. So a massive thank you.

Mrs V.H

I have had sessions with Nicole for numerous different reasons, anxiety, confidence, past experiences. From my first appointment Nicole made me feel so comfortable, she listened and understood and worked with me to find the best ways to help me. I was so nervous about doing hypnotherapy but within minutes of my first session I felt so at ease. I would highly recommend Nicole.

Miss M.T.

Nicole worked with me last summer. I was able to talk freely about my feelings past and present, my husband had recently passed away and I had some problems with alcohol after he went. I was able to talk to her about it, when I couldn't with family. I felt very comfortable when Nicole was here to listen

Megan

At my first appointment I was so nervous, I didn’t know what to expect. Within a few minutes I was at ease by Nicole she made me feel so welcome and has this warm soothing voice. I didn’t feel silly trying to explain why I had come to see her. My personal issues were causing me anxiety, unable to switch off at night, brain overwhelmed. With Nicole's help I am learning to manage this through relaxation techniques.

Marion

Nicole was lovely. Having long-covid I had so many people label me as just depressed or dismissing the condition entirely, but Nicole was the only person I felt genuinely listened to me. She helped me identify the issues that were holding me back from recovery and offer gentle and practical suggestions that has transformed my way of thinking. I’m now in the process of coming off my medication, something I never thought possible before I met Nicole.

Everything you need to know about counselling

Is counselling hard work?

Counselling does not have to be hard work. We only talk about what you want to; the pace, issues, and depth of the discussions are totally up to you. You are in charge.

How might counselling affect me?

People have different reactions to counselling. It can be upsetting exploring some difficult issues, however it will leave you feeling lighter and brighter in the long term. Counselling involves a lot of processing of emotions and thoughts, and so the most common effect is tiredness.

Can I stop or pause counselling?

Absolutely. Counselling is totally for your benefit. You can stop, re-start or pause whenever you want.

Do I have to tell people that I am in counselling?

No, counselling is totally confidential. You do not need to tell your family, partner, GP, or anyone. If you are under 18 years of age I will need your parents consent though.

Can I arrange counselling for someone else?

Yes, you can contact me about someone else. You can also pay for somebody else’s counselling. However, it is totally up to the client whether they want to have counselling and what we explore. It is also totally confidential, and so I cannot tell you anything about what is discussed in the counselling sessions.

Can I bring someone with me to counselling?

Someone can come with you to a counselling session, however they will not be allowed into the counselling room. They will have to wait in the waiting room during the counselling session.

Do I have to talk about my feelings?

How we feel is integral to our lives and our issues. This is why they are so important in counselling. However, you do not have to talk about anything you do not want to.
